Family policies

Photos of your child

We ask your written permission before we share any photo of your child, on this site, in newsletters or on social media, and you can change your answer at any time. We never put a child's name with a photo, and the photos on this site are examples until we replace them with our own.

When to keep your child home

A child with a fever, or who was sick in the night, stays home until the next morning. A teacher calls a parent when a child is unwell at school, and the office sends a note when something is going around.

Drop-off and pickup

The door opens at 8:00 a.m. and school ends at 2:45 p.m. A teacher greets every child at the door. Only the adults on the family's pickup list may collect a child, and we ask to see ID until we know you.

Closures for weather and holidays

The school closes for the winter and spring breaks and the usual holidays, and for snow or smoke. A closure goes out by text before 6:30 a.m.

Leaving the program

We ask families to tell the office in writing before the end of a term. The enrollment agreement explains how a term in progress is handled.

Screens and phones

Children do not use phones or tablets during the school day. A phone that comes to school stays in the backpack and is switched off.

What to wear and bring

Children wear clothes they can paint and garden in, and boots and a rain layer every day. The office keeps a short list, and a family may ask about a change at the visit.

Meals, snacks and allergies

Families send lunch, and the school provides water. Tell us about allergies at the visit; we ask privately once you enroll, and each class teacher keeps a plan for the children in the room.
