How tuition and aid work

  • What sets tuition

Tuition is set by the year, and the faculty sets it each winter at the same table where it makes every other decision. It depends on the class a child is in. The school gives its figures at every visit and writes them out for any family that asks.

    • Set by the year

    • Decided by the faculty each winter

    • Figures given at the visit

  • Registration

A family pays an application fee when it applies, which covers reading the application and the morning a teacher spends with the child. After an offer, an enrollment fee holds the place.

    • Application: when a family applies

    • Enrollment: when an offer is accepted

  • Holding a place

A place is held when the family signs the enrollment agreement and makes the first payment, which goes toward tuition. Families have until April to answer an offer. If a class is full, the office keeps a waitlist and calls families in the order they joined.

    • Signed agreement and first payment

    • Waitlist in the order families joined

  • Billing

Families pay by the year, by the term or by the month. Monthly payments run by autopay through the school's own system, and the office goes over the schedule with you when you enroll.

    • Autopay through the office

  • Financial aid is available; here is how to apply. After you submit an application, the office sends an aid form. Two teachers and a parent read each form and answer in the same week as admissions decisions. Ask the office about any state programs that may apply to your family.

    • An aid form follows the application

    • Answers come with admissions decisions

    • Ask us about state programs

  • Siblings

Brothers and sisters are read in the same season, so a family hears about everyone at once.

  • Withdrawing

Families give written notice before the end of a term. What happens to a term in progress is set out in the enrollment agreement, which you may read at any time before you sign.

  • Other costs

A few costs are billed apart, each for one purpose: the materials the school buys for each class, the extended afternoon by the month, and class trips when a family signs the permission slip.

    • Materials for the year

    • Extended afternoon, by the month

    • Class trips, when you sign

Ask about aid at a visit

The office goes over tuition, aid and billing with you in person.
